Actor Dhanush has finally confirmed the much-awaited update on Vada Chennai 2, the sequel to his hit gangster drama. Speaking at the pre-release event of his upcoming film Idli Kadai, Dhanush announced, “Vada Chennai 2 shooting will begin in 2026. The movie will release in theatres in 2027.”
Vada Chennai, directed by Vetrimaaran, was a major success and is considered one of the finest films in Dhanush’s career. Since its release, fans have been eagerly waiting for news on the sequel. Rumors had earlier suggested that actor Simbu might replace Dhanush, but Vetrimaaran had clarified that his project with Simbu was a separate film.
This fresh update from Dhanush has now cleared the air and excited fans who have been anticipating the continuation of the gritty North Chennai saga.
Currently, Dhanush is promoting Idli Kadai, while also gearing up for the release of Tere IshK Mein, directed by Aanand L Rai, later this year.
With Vetrimaaran returning to direct and Dhanush back in the lead, Vada Chennai 2 is expected to be one of the biggest films of 2027.
