Morocco’s Secretary of State for Industry, Omar Hejira, highlighted the significance of strengthening ties between India and Morocco during his visit to Delhi. He pointed out Morocco’s strategic location and economic potential, noting its strong links with African and European nations as well as free trade agreements with the US, Africa, and Arab countries. Hejira said the visit aims to boost bilateral cooperation and invited Indian delegations to explore business and investment opportunities in Morocco, accompanied by a high-level delegation to underscore the seriousness of the outreach.

Expanding on this, Morocco’s Ambassador to India, Mohamed Maliki, spoke at the Millennial India International Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Conference about efforts to balance trade and broaden cooperation in key sectors. He highlighted Morocco’s role in India’s food security through fertiliser supplies and stressed the importance of open economies for meeting market needs, attracting investments, and creating opportunities.

Maliki linked these initiatives to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Voice of the South” program, emphasizing the potential for stronger trade and investment between India and the Arab world. He also highlighted defence cooperation, citing India’s role in inaugurating Morocco’s first defence facility outside India, a milestone reflecting trust and strategic partnership. Concluding, Maliki noted that many opportunities remain untapped, and further collaboration is essential to fully explore trade, investment, and business prospects, demonstrating the growing importance of India-Morocco relations.
