IAF conducts seminar highlighting collaboration in disaster preparedness and response.

The Medical Training Centre of the Indian Air Force, one of the oldest training institutes in the service, successfully conducted the 7th IAF Allied and Healthcare Seminar on the theme Collaboration and Coordination: A Key to Effective HADR from September 22 to 23.
The two-day seminar was designed to provide medical assistants with a comprehensive understanding of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations and highlight the importance of coordination among multiple agencies during emergencies. Uniquely, it is the only seminar of its kind in the Armed Forces Medical Services that is conducted entirely for, by, and of the medical assistants, serving as a platform for their continuing medical education.
Air Marshal Sandeep Thareja, Director General Medical Services (Air), inaugurated the seminar as the chief guest. The event drew participation from allied healthcare professionals of the Indian Air Force, Army, Navy, and delegates from the Karnataka State Disaster Relief Force. Proceedings were telecast live on the Air Force network as well as through Webex.
The seminar featured scientific sessions and panel discussions on mass casualty management, emergency medical response, prevention of disease outbreaks, maternal and child health, medical ethics, mental support, and logistical coordination. Equipment used in disaster relief operations was displayed by Karnataka SDRF and the Rapid Action Medical Team of the Air Force. Experts and participants exchanged best practices and discussed innovative solutions to meet the complex challenges of HADR. The sessions underscored the critical role of collaboration, preparedness, and efficient resource management in responding to disasters and humanitarian crises.
