BNCC introduces sustainable measures to ensure safer, faster road repairs and reduce commuter hazards citywide.
The Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has intensified efforts to improve road safety by adopting eco-friendly methods for pothole repairs across key stretches in the city. On Saturday, Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar, accompanied by the Joint Commissioner and senior engineers, inspected the ongoing repair works on Amruthanagara Main Road, in front of Amruthahalli Police Station.
During the inspection, officials demonstrated the use of Eco-Fix, an advanced material designed to provide quick and durable solutions for small potholes. The Commissioner noted that potholes, particularly during the rainy season, have been a major source of inconvenience and accidents for commuters. He stressed the importance of using innovative technology like Eco-Fix to ensure long-lasting results compared to traditional patching methods.
In a significant move, the Commissioner directed that 500 bags of Eco-Fix be procured for each Assembly Constituency under the corporation’s jurisdiction. This initiative aims to create a ready stockpile of repair material that can be deployed immediately when new potholes appear, reducing response time and preventing hazards caused by damaged roads. According to engineers, Eco-Fix has been tested to withstand heavy rainfall and vehicular loads, making it a sustainable solution for Bengaluru’s challenging road conditions. The civic body believes that such proactive measures will not only enhance commuter safety but also lower maintenance costs in the long run. The BNCC has urged residents to actively report potholes and road damage through the official helpline 1533 or by tagging @ICCCBengaluru on social media platforms for faster resolution.
