Rajnath says Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s powerful retaliation capabilities to the world
New Delhi
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that Operation Sindoor sent a strong message to India’s enemies about the country’s determination and strength. The operation was carried out in response to the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. Addressing a group of 1965 war veterans, Singh praised the bravery and unity of the armed forces, stressing that their success showed “victory is no longer an exception for us—it has become our habit, and we must preserve this habit.”
Singh recalled how the Pahalgam attack had deeply shaken the nation, saying the tragic memory still weighs heavily on people’s hearts. However, he underlined that the incident could not weaken India’s spirit. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken a firm resolve that terrorists would face such punishment that they could never have imagined.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted terrorist bases in Pakistan-controlled areas. The strikes led to four days of intense clashes before both sides agreed to end hostilities on May 10. Singh said the operation was proof that India does not bow down to threats but responds with courage and decisive action.
Reflecting on India’s history, the Defence Minister remarked that the nation has consistently faced challenges from its neighbours since Independence. Yet, instead of accepting these difficulties as fate, Indians have worked hard, stood united, and shaped their own destiny. He emphasized that this resilience is what defines the country and strengthens its future, making India capable of turning every challenge into an opportunity for growth and security.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Operation Sindoor proved India’s strength and ability to shape its own destiny under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Speaking at the diamond jubilee of the 1965 war, he praised soldiers’ courage, recalled Lal Bahadur Shastri’s leadership, and paid tribute to martyrs, stressing unity, resilience, and defence modernisation as key to protecting sovereignty.
