Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar reaffirmed her commitment to transparent governance and grassroots development. “Speaking lies or indulging in wrongdoing is not in my nature. My aim is to use power to serve people through good work,” she said.
She was speaking after inaugurating a new Gram Panchayat building at Badas KH village on Monday. Stressing the importance of local governance, Hebbalkar said, As Mahatma Gandhi believed, the nation can progress only when villages progress. It was Rajiv Gandhi’s dream to ensure 50 percent representation for women in local bodies. With the introduction of NREGA during Dr Manmohan Singh’s tenure, panchayats have gained greater strength and responsibility. Today, they are the foundation of development and should become temples of service for the people.
Outlining her vision for the Belagavi Rural constituency, the Minister said it is her dream to make it a model of rural progress. We have opened 65 smart classrooms, constructed the largest number of Anganwadis, and will soon launch government Montessori schools to benefit children from poor families. My goal is that every voter who supported me feels a sense of fulfillment, she added.
Hebbalkar also urged people to join hands in building stronger villages. Together, let us take our villages to greater heights. The people of my constituency have placed their trust in me, and I am committed to living up to it, she said.
