Managing Director and Chief Cardiac Surgeon of Arihant Hospital, Dr Mahadev D Dixit has been conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 9th Annual Conference of the Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeons of India (SMICTS) in Bengaluru.
This prestigious honour recognises Dr Dixit’s decades of dedication, relentless efforts, and outstanding contribution to the field of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery. Through his continuous service, research, and innovations, he has pioneered new pathways in cardiac surgery, transforming patient care across India.
The award was presented in the presence of eminent cardiac surgeons and leaders in the field, including Dr Sathyaki Nambala, Dr Yugal Mishra, Dr Rajneesh Malhotra, ISMICS President Dr. Husam Balkhy.
Dr Dixit is a highly acclaimed cardiac surgeon with over 40 years of experience, having performed more than 40,000 open-heart surgeries, including 7,500 complex pediatric cases. A true pioneer, he was the first in Karnataka to establish both Minimal Access Valve and Robotic Heart Surgery, setting new benchmarks for cardiac care in the region.
His vision extends to philanthropy, having founded hospitals and a charitable foundation that has provided over 20,000 free surgeries to underserved communities.
Dr Dixit’s exceptional career has been recognised with numerous prestigious honours, including the Karnataka State Rajyotsava Award and the Best Scientist award from KLE University. Holding an FRCS from Glasgow, his career is a testament to surgical excellence, innovation, and profound community service.
