Satish Jarkiholi urges preserving Basavanna’s teachings through the Basava Culture Campaign to inspire future generations.

District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi emphasized that Basavanna’s ideas must be preserved as long as the earth exists, commending the Basava Culture Campaign for its role in safeguarding his philosophy. Speaking at the campaign conference held at SGBIT College, Naganur Rudrakshi Math, he pointed out that attempts to distort Basavanna’s original ideas and history have been ongoing in the country for thousands of years.
Jarkiholi recalled that in earlier times, Sharanas protected Vachana literature from destruction, carrying it on their heads to preserve it. Today, the Basava Culture Campaign works to spread Basavanna’s teachings to every corner of the state, ensuring that his ideas and struggles are remembered by future generations and the nation.
He highlighted the continuity between Basavanna’s Vachanas and the Indian Constitution, noting, “What Basavanna expressed in literary form, Ambedkar has reflected in the Constitution. There is no difference between the two; both are equally significant.” Jarkiholi also praised the Siddaramaiah government for declaring Basavanna the cultural leader of Karnataka and for placing his photograph in all government offices, a step he recalled with pride.
Handigund Shivananda Swamiji likened the Basava Culture Campaign to a bullet train, urging followers to embrace Basava’s light fully. He remarked that “the battery called Lingayat cannot be installed until the cap called Veerashaiva on the Lingayat cell is removed,” calling on everyone to unite and carry forward Basava’s teachings.
The conference reinforced the campaign’s mission to celebrate and preserve Basavanna’s philosophy, ensuring it continues to inspire generations across Karnataka.
