A special emergency general meeting was convened by City Council President Sasikala Malgi. During the session, Municipal Council member Sanjeev Kumar Neeralgi highlighted that a grant of Rs 108 lakh had been received for drinking water projects—Rs 40 lakh for the water purification plant, Rs 40 lakh for jackwell repairs, and Rs 28 lakh for city water supply. However, tenders have not yet been called. “When we approach the Deputy Commissioner, we are told the proposal is pending the City Planning Director’s signature. Despite our directives, officials are not processing it,” he said.

Council member IU Pathana raised concerns over potential irregularities in development works ordered by the President between 2021 and 2025, questioning why authorities have not provided the requested information. Officials hesitated to respond. President Malgi instructed officials to convene another meeting within a week and provide comprehensive details on development works. She also proposed setting aside Rs 10 lakh annually for repair of deteriorating water pipes. Vice President Mallikarjuna Sathenahalli and Municipal Commissioner H Kantharaju attended the meeting. Neeralgi warned that if the project is not implemented promptly, protests will be organized against the officials, stressing the need for timely action on government-allocated funds.
