The three-faced clock tower at St. John’s Junction, a familiar landmark for commuters, has not been functioning for several months. All three clocks have stopped working, leaving the tower frozen in time and drawing attention from both residents and regular road users. According to Vaastu principles, a non-functional clock is often considered inauspicious, symbolizing stagnation and bad luck. Locals have connected this belief with the prolonged delay of the Koramangala–Ejipura flyover, which has been under construction since 2017 and has repeatedly missed deadlines.
The flyover project, intended to ease traffic congestion between Koramangala and Ejipura, has faced several hurdles, including utility shifting, land disputes, and funding gaps. With no clear timeline for its completion, the project has become a source of frustration for thousands of commuters who rely on the stretch every day. Residents suggest that repairing the clock tower could be a symbolic step toward breaking the deadlock. It has been standing idle for too long, just like the flyover. Maybe fixing it will bring better luck, said a commuter at the junction. Civic authorities have yet to respond to calls for the clock tower’s repair, but locals believe restoring it would not only revive a recognizable city landmark but also reflect positively on efforts to complete long-delayed infrastructure projects.
