K R Puram traffic police stress zebra crossing use

The K R Puram Traffic Police conducted a special public awareness programme near the railway station to educate citizens on the importance of adhering to traffic rules. The campaign specifically focused on encouraging pedestrians to use zebra crossings instead of attempting to cross roads at random points, a practice that often leads to accidents and disrupts the smooth flow of vehicles.

During the drive, police personnel engaged directly with commuters, explaining how neglecting zebra crossings puts both pedestrians and motorists at risk. Officers pointed out that many accidents in busy areas occur because people choose to cross roads carelessly, without considering traffic signals or pedestrian markings. By following simple rules such as waiting for the pedestrian signal and using zebra crossings, lives can be protected and traffic congestion reduced.

The awareness event also served as a reminder that road safety is not the sole responsibility of traffic police but a collective duty. Motorists were urged to slow down near zebra crossings and respect pedestrian rights, while pedestrians were reminded that disregarding traffic rules could invite penalties in addition to safety hazards.

Authorities stated that creating a culture of road discipline requires continuous education along with strict enforcement. To this end, the K R Puram Traffic Police have announced plans to hold similar awareness drives across their jurisdiction in the coming weeks.

Officials expressed confidence that sustained awareness efforts will gradually change public behavior, leading to safer roads in Bengaluru. By promoting responsible road use, the department aims to reduce accidents and instill discipline among both drivers and pedestrians.
