Statewide social, educational survey begins with house listing

Backward Classes Survey

The Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes has initiated a comprehensive social and educational survey of families across the state, marking the first major exercise of its kind in recent years. As part of the groundwork, the commission has launched a house-listing phase, identifying residences through R.R. meters in homes with electricity connections.

Officials began the process by visiting houses in various localities, including Sadashivanagar, where commission staff affixed stickers to mark surveyed households. This sticker serves as an indication that the property has been listed and will be visited again for further data collection.

Following the listing exercise, teachers and designated survey staff will conduct detailed visits to collect information on the social and educational status of families. The commission has emphasized that this information will play a crucial role in policy-making and welfare measures for backward classes in Karnataka.

In an appeal to the public, the commission urged all families to extend their cooperation by sharing accurate details during the survey process. “This exercise is critical for ensuring inclusive development and targeted support. We request citizens to provide correct information so that government welfare schemes can reach the right beneficiaries,” officials said.

With the first phase already underway, the survey is expected to cover households across urban and rural areas in the coming months, laying the foundation for a wider socio-economic assessment of the state’s population.
