Australia captain Alyssa Healy believes her team is ready for the challenges of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, to be held in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2.
With seven World Cup titles already, the Aussies are aiming to defend their crown. “We’re well placed to handle all conditions,” Healy said, pointing to the depth and balance of her squad.
The 15-member team includes the return of spinner Sophie Molineux, who joins Georgia Wareham to lead the spin attack — key for success in subcontinent conditions.
“It’s a great place to tour,” Healy added about India. “The culture and love for cricket make it special.”
Australia will first play a three-match ODI series against India to adjust to local pitches. Healy, 35, also highlighted the team’s motivation to win back-to-back titles — something no team has done recently.
She admitted lessons were learned from the T20 World Cup in UAE, where one bad game cost them. “We need 10 good results,” she said. “But we’re in a good place.”
Ten players from the 2022 title-winning squad return, including stars like Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, and Tahlia McGrath.
Australia faces New Zealand in their opener on October 1.
