Civic Authorities Launch Drive to Improve Public Spaces and Safety
City authorities have issued strict instructions to improve cleanliness and infrastructure maintenance in and around the Majestic area, one of Bengaluru’s busiest transit hubs. During an inspection, civic officers were directed to enforce uniform use, gloves for sanitation staff, and establish a clear reporting system for clearing building debris and black spots.
Special focus has been placed on Majestic and surrounding junctions, including Okalipuram, where intensive cleaning will be carried out daily. On Dhanvantari Road, opposite the railway area, construction debris must be removed without delay. Damaged curbstones and footpath slabs are also to be repaired and replaced immediately to ensure pedestrian safety.
The order further mandates installation of trash bins outside hotels, shops, and commercial establishments near Majestic. Business owners have been warned of fines if they fail to comply. Citizens and shopkeepers have also been urged to cooperate with civic workers to keep public spaces clean.
To enhance greenery, the Horticulture Department has been tasked with planting and protecting saplings at small junctions and along footpaths. Officials stressed the need for grills around saplings to ensure their survival. With the onset of rains, drains and gratings must be kept free of blockages, and silt removed regularly to prevent waterlogging.
Additionally, utilities such as the Water Board and BESCOM have been warned against dumping construction waste and unused materials on footpaths, obstructing pedestrian movement. Notices are to be issued immediately to violators, and corrective action must be taken. The directives aim to restore civic order in the heart of Bengaluru and create a cleaner, pedestrian-friendly environment.
