England striker Alessia Russo has committed her future to Arsenal Women by signing a new long-term contract after a remarkable spell with the club. Russo joined Arsenal in July 2023 and has since established herself as a key player, scoring 36 goals in 72 appearances. Her contributions were vital in helping the Gunners lift the League Cup in 2024 and the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2025.
Reflecting on her journey, Russo said Arsenal immediately felt like home and described playing for the club as an honour. She praised the supporters for their role in the team’s success and expressed her determination to achieve even more silverware in the coming seasons.
At 26 years old, Russo has broken her scoring record in each of her two campaigns with Arsenal. She netted 16 goals in her debut season before improving to 20 goals in 41 matches the following year. Her 12 goals in 21 league games during 2024/25 also earned her the Barclays Women’s Super League Golden Boot.
Russo’s standout moment came in the Champions League, where she scored twice in a dramatic quarter-final comeback against Real Madrid and added another goal in the semi-final triumph over Lyon. Her exceptional form saw her named FWA Player of the Year, included in both the PFA and UEFA Teams of the Year, and nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
On the international stage, Russo has already been central to England’s back-to-back European Championship victories in 2022 and 2025, and their World Cup final run in 2023.
