It is our duty to take care of orphans, single parents and begging children as if they were children of God, said Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Duragesha.
He was speaking while presiding over the child protection and care meeting held at the District Administration Building in the city on Thursday.
It is the primary duty of all of us to take good care of the children in the orphanage. All the members of the committee should be fully aware of the JJ Act. Then the committee can take good action and protect and care for the children. Some children in the orphanage are very naughty and should be noticed and made to engage them in other activities, he said.
Everyone should work thinking that it is an opportunity to build the future of the children in the society. The district administration will facilitate the children in the orphanage to get education and priority will be given to schools like Kittur Chennamma and Morarji Desai, said Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Duragesha.
Child Protection Officer Rafika Hallura gave statistics on government and private child care centers in the district, and said that the funds required for the construction of a government child care center have already been sent to the government.
The heads of the child care centersinformed the meeting about the children in the child care centers.
The members of the Child Protection and Care Committee were present at the meeting.
The committee appointed for the protection and care of children should visit the orphanages concerned every month and know the actual situation there, bring the shortcomings there to the attention of the government and understand the demands of the children there. In such a situation, the participation of everyone is essential, said Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Duragesha.
