Railways Expands Spiritual Tourism with New Pilgrimage Train Experience

The Ministry of Railways, under its Bharat Gaurav Trains Policy introduced in 2022, continues to expand its efforts to promote domestic tourism with new spiritual and cultural experiences. South Star Rail, the first operator to launch a Bharat Gaurav Train, has already established a strong track record with 43 successful departures, covering over 2.43 lakh kilometers and serving more than 21,000 passengers.
Building on this success, South Star Rail—recognized by the Ministry of Tourism and rated among India’s top tourist train operators—has announced its latest package, the Shiva Sai Yatra. The journey will cover prominent pilgrimage destinations including Nava Brindavan, Mantralayam, Pandharpur, Shirdi, Trimbakeshwar, Bhimashankar, Grushneshwar, and Srisailam, with an added visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ellora Caves.
The special train is set to commence its 11-day tour on October 2, 2025, offering boarding facilities from Bangarapet, Whitefield, Yelahanka, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Ballari, and Hosapete. Passengers will benefit from a host of amenities such as onboard announcement systems, dedicated security, tour managers, comprehensive travel insurance, hotel stays, sightseeing, transfers, and unlimited South Indian meals both onboard and off board.
To make the journey more convenient, travelers are advised to carry only overnight or sightseeing luggage. The package is also eligible for LTC/LFC claims. Fares start at ₹27,700 (Sleeper – Budget), ₹37,000 (3AC – Comfort), ₹43,000 (2AC – Deluxe), and ₹47,900 (1AC – Luxury).
