Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has announced the permanent closure of her Bandra-based restaurant, Bastian, amid allegations of a Rs 60 crore fraud involving her and husband Raj Kundra. Sharing the news on social media, Shilpa called it the end of an era for one of Mumbai’s iconic dining spots, which she said gave them countless memories and shaped the city’s nightlife.
The restaurant, co-owned with Ranjit Bindra, will host a special evening for loyal patrons before closing, though the popular Thursday night event, Arcane Affair, will continue at Bastian at the Top. Opened in 2016 and relocated to Bandra in 2023, Bastian was known for its artistic décor and celebrity-frequented ambiance.
Meanwhile, controversy surrounds Shilpa and Kundra, as businessman Deepak Kothari alleges misuse of funds in their former venture, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, from 2015 to 2023. The Economic Offences Wing has registered the case, though their lawyer maintains the allegations are baseless and already resolved by the NCLT in October 2024.
