The Union Home Ministry has officially designated 37 airports, 34 sea and river ports, and 37 international land crossings as official immigration posts for the entry and exit of international passengers. In addition, six railway stations along the India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh borders have been named as immigration checkpoints.
The announcement came through a gazette notification following the Immigration and Foreigners Order, 2025, which was notified on September 1. Key airports with immigration posts include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Varanasi, Jaipur, and Thiruvananthapuram, among others. Seaports include Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kandla, Cochin, and Visakhapatnam. Land border posts span Punjab, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and Uttar Pradesh. The six railway immigration posts are located at Munabao, Attari, Gede, Petrapole/Chitpur, Haridaspur, and New Jalpaiguri stations.
These designated immigration posts are aimed at streamlining border management and ensuring proper monitoring of international travel through India’s air, sea, land, and rail entry points.
