“I will win no matter which party I contest from—even if I stand as an independent candidate,” declared MLA KN Rajanna at a public meeting in Kodigenahalli on Wednesday.
His remarks have gained political significance amid ongoing speculation about his possible move to the BJP following his removal from the ministerial post. Although Rajanna had earlier stated during the last Assembly elections that he would not contest again, his fresh comments indicate a change in stance.
Addressing the gathering, Rajanna questioned, “Why should I join the BJP? Those who want to will join, but I have the strength to win regardless of the party I represent. Why should I leave Congress? What has the party done for me? I have the power to win or defeat anyone in every constituency.”
He further asserted that his political future remains secure as long as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah leads the Congress. “I will continue to maintain my loyalty and trust as long as he is in the party,” he said.
Ruling out any possibility of quitting Congress, Rajanna added, “I fully support Rahul Gandhi’s campaign against vote theft. There are also discussions about taking a large delegation to Delhi to demand that I be reinstated as a Minister.”
