Mahanaryaman Scindia becomes youngest MPCA President

Indore

Mahanaryaman Scindia, son of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, offered prayers at the Khajrana Ganesh temple in Indore on Tuesday before officially taking charge as the president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA).

The 29-year-old was unanimously elected as MPCA president on Monday, making him the youngest person to lead the cricket body since its founding in 1957. He is the third generation from the Scindia family to head the MPCA, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Madhavrao Scindia and father Jyotiraditya.

Mahanaryaman’s involvement in cricket has steadily grown in recent years. He became the vice-president of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association and a lifetime MPCA member in 2022. He also heads the Madhya Pradesh T20 League, launched in Gwalior in 2024.

The new MPCA executive team includes Vineet Sethia (vice-president), Sudhir Asnani (secretary), Arundhati Kherkire (joint secretary), and Sanjeev Dua (treasurer).

The Scindia family has played a dominant role in MP cricket for decades, though their control was once challenged by BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya in 2010.

The MPCA’s annual general meeting was held at Holkar Cricket Stadium.
