Of the three Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) recently sanctioned, only one is set to begin operations this year, while the other two remain stalled due to unresolved land issues.

Kalyana Karnataka was allotted two KVs — one at Sindhanur and another at Yadgir. The Sindhanur KV, located in Elargi (D) village of Raichur district, will commence classes from this academic year. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) approved its functioning after the sponsoring authority successfully transferred land and arranged suitable temporary accommodation. The school will begin with classes 1 to 5, each with a single section, and expand gradually based on feasibility. Admissions are expected to be completed within 30 days of finalising pending formalities.

In contrast, the KV sanctioned for Mudnal village in Yadgir district has been deferred as neither permanent land nor temporary accommodation has been secured. Similarly, the KV approved for Chitradurga is on hold due to similar land-related problems.

Deepesh Gehlot, Additional Commissioner of KVS, in a letter to the Deputy Commissioner and concerned officials, highlighted that under the Government of India’s approval, 85 new KVs were sanctioned across civil and defence sectors. He stressed that sponsoring authorities are required to hand over land and provide temporary accommodation before schools can be made operational.

While the Sindhanur KV is moving forward, officials emphasized that timely cooperation from state and local administrations is essential to provide basic infrastructure for the other sanctioned schools to start functioning without further delay.
