Leanne Kiernan extends Liverpool Women’s contract

Irish striker Leanne Kiernan has signed a new contract to continue her career with Liverpool FC Women, the club announced Wednesday at the AXA Melwood Training Centre. Kiernan, the club’s second-highest scorer since the Women’s Super League began, will enter her fifth season with the Reds.

“I’m really excited to get going again. My family loves being here too — it feels like a second home,” Kiernan said. She praised the fans for their unwavering support through injuries and tough times, hoping to celebrate many wins with them this year.

Since joining Liverpool in summer 2021, Kiernan has scored 23 goals and helped the team win the FA Women’s Championship in her debut season. Despite an ankle injury limiting her playtime in the top flight, she made 19 and 22 appearances in the last two seasons.

Kiernan highlighted the importance of the fans, saying their chants and support boost the team’s spirit. “Liverpool has always had the best fans in the world,” she added.

With this new deal, Kiernan looks set to continue her impressive journey with Liverpool and build on her success in the WSL.
