CM Fadnavis launches Ganeshotsav Rajya Mahotsav emblem

Shelar said Ganeshotsav unites Maharashtra, preserving culture and boosting pride

Mumbai

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday unveiled the official emblem for Ganeshotsav, which will now be celebrated as a ‘Rajya Mahotsav’. Speaking after the weekly cabinet meeting, he said the festival will now receive special attention from the state government and be promoted on national and international platforms. Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar added that the emblem will act as the official identity of Ganeshotsav across all celebrations.

For this year, the government has allocated around Rs 11 crore for various cultural programmes, including competitions, illuminations, lectures, and folk-art performances. Two themes—‘Operation Sindoor’, paying tribute to the bravery of the Indian Army, and ‘Swadeshi Jagar’, promoting a self-reliant India—will also be part of this year’s celebrations.

Shelar highlighted Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage, calling it a land of saints, leaders, warriors, and spiritual thinkers. He noted that Ganeshotsav has long promoted unity and social harmony, with both centuries-old domestic rituals and decades-old public festivities reflecting the state’s cultural pride.

By combining tradition with modernity and involving all stakeholders, we aim to enhance the festival’s social and cultural importance, boost tourism, and preserve Maharashtra’s rituals and customs, Shelar said. He added that declaring Ganeshotsav a state festival will help citizens connect with the celebrations while maintaining its traditional essence.

This historic move aims to showcase Maharashtra’s cultural legacy to the world, reinforcing social unity and establishing Ganeshotsav as a symbol of pride nationally and internationally.
