India’s Anahat Singh reaches NSW Bega final

Anahat faces second seed Habiba Hani in championship showdown

Bega

Rising Indian squash star Anahat Singh stormed into the final of the NSW Bega Open 2025 after a thrilling five-game battle against Egypt’s Nour Khafagy on Saturday. The top seed overcame a slow start to clinch the semi-final 10-12, 11-5, 11-5, 10-12, 11-7 in 54 minutes.

Khafagy struck first by edging out the opening game, but Anahat responded with sharp, attacking play to comfortably take the next two games and seize control of the match. The Indian teenager appeared on course to close out the contest in four, but Khafagy showed grit by saving three match balls and winning five straight points to push the clash into a decider.

In the final game, Anahat kept her composure and quickly regained her rhythm. She earned three more match balls and this time converted at the first opportunity, sealing the contest 11-7 and booking her place in the title clash.

Anahat will now face another Egyptian, second seed Habiba Hani, in the championship match. Hani reached the final after defeating India’s Akanksha Salunkhe 3-1 (11-9, 7-11, 12-10, 11-6) in the other semi-final.

This achievement marks another strong step for the young Indian, who has been making waves on the PSA Tour with her consistency and determination. The NSW Bega Open final now promises to be an exciting duel between two top seeds as Anahat looks to claim yet another international title for India.
