New Delhi
A Delhi court acquitted AAP MP Swati Maliwal of charges related to revealing the identity of a 14-year-old rape victim who later died from her injuries. The case dates back to 2016, when Maliwal, then chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, was accused of violating the Juvenile Justice Act by naming the minor in a notice sent to police. The victim was assaulted by her neighbour, who allegedly forced a corrosive substance down her throat. Police claimed the notice was shared with media and circulated online.
