Kengeri police have arrested a cunning father-in-law who came to his sister’s house for the festival and threw away the gold necklace of his daughter. Ranganath (58), a resident of Rajagopalnagar Nagar, was arrested. A gold necklace weighing 24 grams was seized from him. Officials said that the accused was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Manjula, a resident of Seegehalli. Manjula came to her home at 7th Cross, Kalikamba Road, Kengeri with her daughter, on the 9th of last year when Kengeri did not dissolve. After thawing, around 9 pm, he untied the gold necklace and kept it in the cupboard of his mother’s room. The next morning when she got up and went to her husband’s house, she opened the cupboard and did not find the necklace. In this case, even searching the whole house is of no use. Later, the brother-in-law complained about Ranganath expressing doubt. Based on this complaint, when Ranganath was arrested and interrogated, he stood up and confessed to stealing the necklace. On that day, Ranganath had also come to the Karaga festival at his sister’s house. He stayed at his elder sister’s house for the night after finishing his meltdown. At this time, he went into the room four or five times. This was noticed by the older sister’s daughter Manjula. Thus, when Ranganath went inside the room, he opened the cupboard and stole the necklace. Later he pretended that there was no relationship. Officials said that Ranganath, who is addicted to alcohol, stole the necklace to settle the expenses and confessed during the interrogation.
