By God’s Grace We Didn’t Board Coromandel Express: Volleyball Coach

Must read

Volleyball coach Mamata Shetty said that by God’s grace we did not board the Coromandel Express train that crashed. Speaking to reporters at Kempegowda International Airport in the city, she said that she was arriving in Bangalore after the championship held in West Bengal. But the girls team did not get reservation tickets. So we decided to come to Chennai in Coromandel Express which had an accident and from there to Bangalore. But at the last moment it was decided that the two teams should go on the same train and not on different trains. Because of this we did not travel in the Coromandel train. Fortunately, we all survived. After the accident between trains in Odisha (Odisha Train Tragedy), more than 58 trains on that route were cancelled. Also 81 trains were rerouted. Due to this, the team of volleyball players who had gone to West Bengal struggled to return. Later, the state government arranged for a flight to bring the athletes. The athletes reached Bangalore early on Sunday morning.
