Vachanananda Swamiji Launches Sticker Campaign for Census

Vachanananda Swamiji, seer of Veerashaiva Lingayat Panchamasali Peetha of Harihar, declined to comment on the expulsion of Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swamiji, seer of Kudalasangama Peeta.

Addressing media persons on Tuesday, Swamiji noted he was unaware of the issue. “I was attending some events and have no information about it. I will not comment on something I don’t know, he stated. He remarked, there is no obligation to answer all questions, refusing to provide details about the ouster of Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swamiji,” he said.

He further said a campaign to affix stickers on every house has commenced on Monday, coinciding with the start of a social and educational census. Swamiji explained that the initiative was launched in every district to ensure accurate data collection. In the religion column, Hindu should be written, and in the caste column, Lingayat Panchamasali should be mentioned. Therefore, we have taken up the task of sticking stickers on every house in each village, he said. Criticising previous surveys as unscientific, Swamiji emphasised the importance of conducting a thorough census during Navratri.

“Our request is not to conduct the survey hastily. Last survey was hurried, he added. He noted that all religious leaders, including Sirigere Swamiji, have called for writing Hindu in the religion column for the community. We will monitor the survey and reject it if there are any flaws. If the survey is not done correctly, Rs 420 crore in taxes will be wasted,” Swamiji warned.
