Samantha Ruth Prabhu appears to have responded to the underwhelming box office performance of Shaakuntalam and the critical comments made by veteran producer-director Chittibabu about her career. Reports on Tuesday revealed that the film was struggling to make an impact at the box office. Following this, Chittibabu criticized the actress in the wake of the films failure. In what appears to be a reaction to these developments, Samantha shared a photo along with a quote from the Bhagavad Gita that pertains to the concept of karma.
Samantha was captured in an Instagram photo while sitting in her car, lost in thought. Along with the picture, she composed the following message: Karmanye vadhika raste, Ma phaleshu kadachana, Ma karma phala he tur bhuh, Ma te sangotsva karmani. The quote loosely translates to, You have a right over your action and not its fruits (because we have no control over it). Lets not do work motivated by the fruit and lets not get attached to it. But that does not mean we should settle for inaction.
Shaakuntalam is reportedly facing difficulties in crossing the Rs 10 crore mark at the box office. On the fourth day of its release, the Samantha-starrer film only managed to collect Rs 60 lakhs, bringing its total earnings in India to approximately Rs 6.25 crore net. It is anticipated that the film will incur losses as it was made with a budget of around Rs 65 crores.
Producer Chittibabu, in a recent interview with a YouTube channel, alleged that Samantha is resorting to cheap tactics to promote her movies as her career as a star heroine has come to an end. He claimed that Samanthas decision to do an item song in Pushpa The Rise was a means of earning a livelihood after her divorce. According to him, since she has lost her status as a star heroine, she is accepting whatever offers come her way. Chittibabu stated that Samanthas career as a leading lady is over, and she cannot regain her stardom. He advised her to continue working on the projects she receives. These statements were reported by a web platform.
