A group of circus artists in the city created awareness on voting ahead of the state Assembly elections, in an attempt to increase voter turnout in urban areas. Various exercises are being undertaken to raise voter awareness ahead of the Assembly elections. As part of this, a group of circus artists organised a voting awareness campaign through their acts for the audience. The artists engaged in a unique campaign with their performances at St John’s Hall opposite the BDA Complex in Koramangala, to spread awareness about voting. Voting is our right, and on the day of election, please go out of your house and vote. This is the only opportunity we get to choose our representatives and they will resolve our issues, said Biju, a circus artist. In the urban areas, where there are more educated people, the voter turnout is lower as people go out on holidays during that time. But the turnout is higher in villages. We request the public to cast their vote and we are not supporting any party. We will create awareness among our audience, said Harish, one of the organisers.
