DCP inspects traffic flow at Marathahalli

In a bid to ease congestion during peak hours, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic – East) conducted a surprise inspection at the busy Marathahalli Bridge junction on Tuesday. The inspection was aimed at addressing the persistent problem of traffic snarls caused by unauthorized parking and heavy vehicle movement in the area.

Accompanied by senior officers from the HAL Airport Traffic Police Station, the DCP reviewed vehicular movement around the junction and along adjoining service roads. Specific instructions were issued to the sector Police Sub-Inspector and staff to strictly prevent unauthorized vehicle parking along the roadside and within the junction’s vicinity. “No tolerance will be shown towards illegal parking that obstructs traffic flow. Strict enforcement is the only way to keep congestion under control during peak hours,” the DCP emphasized.

The official also directed personnel to maintain a strong presence at choke points during morning and evening rush hours, ensuring swift intervention in case of traffic build-up. Special monitoring was advised for feeder routes leading to the junction, which often witness bottlenecks due to the mix of local and transit traffic.

Traffic police confirmed that teams would be deployed to implement continuous checks and levy fines on violators. Local commuters welcomed the move, noting that improved regulation at Marathahalli Bridge would save travel time and enhance road safety. The Bengaluru Traffic Police reiterated its commitment to systematic enforcement and smoother mobility across major city junctions, with similar inspections planned in other high-density corridors.
