Late Vikram Kirloskar, former Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a stalwart of the Indian automotive industry, has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate posthumously by Visvesvaraya Technical University, Belagavi. At the 22nd convocation of Visvesvaraya Technical University, Belagavi, Late Vikram Kirloskar was announced posthumously with Honorary Doctorate for his distinguished service in the industry. Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, conferred the Honorary Doctorate at Raj Bhavan on Monday, and the honour was received by Geetanjali Kirloskar, wife of Vikram Kirloskar.
In his address at the event, the Hon’ble Governor praised the unmatched contribution of Vikram Kirloskar to the world of companies and entrepreneurs. Vikram Kirloskar served as the Vice Chairman of the Kirloskar Group, which included Toyota and Toyota Kirloskar Motors and Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts. He also served as the Chairman and Managing Director of Kirloskar Systems, Kirloskar Brothers, Kirloskar Pneumatic, and Kirloskar Oil Engines, making a great contribution to the progress of the nation. Kirloskar was a deep believer in sustainability and focused on alternative energy and technology. He was committed to supporting local vendors as much as possible with his ventures, and he was dedicated to delivering reliable products. Kirloskar had a balanced view of technology, believing that new technologies would be developed from moment to moment, but if India was to become a truly self-reliant country, everyone would have to make choices that suited India’s needs.
