A youth drowned and another was rescued while swimming in a lake in the Bengaluru North taluk, officials said Thursday. While Adith is presumed dead, Darshan is being treated at a private hospital.
According to reports, Adith and Darshan were residents of Abbigere village in the taluk. Local reports said that Adith and Darshan were diploma students and had gone swimming at the Ganigerehalli lake, which falls under the Soladevanahalli police station limits. Adith had reportedly told his parents that he was visiting his friend’s house and they had no clue that he would go swimming, reported. When the two began to drown, cattle herders nearby saw them and managed to rescue Darshan. However, they couldn’t find the body of Adith. Emergency personnel have begun a search and rescue operation to recover Ajith. So far, the body has not been found. Last week, in a similar incident, a youth drowned and died in Laxmipura lake when he was swimming with his friends. The lake falls under the limits of Nelamangala Police Station.
