Roshibina Devi secures her third consecutive Asian Games medal, storming into the Sanda 60kg semifinals with a dominant victory.

Indian wushu star Roshibina Devi assured herself of a third successive Asian Games medal after reaching the women’s Sanda 60kg semifinals with a 5-0 victory over Macao, China’s Chu Man Sin on Tuesday. The semifinal berth guarantees her at least a bronze medal.
Roshibina previously won bronze at the 2018 Jakarta Games and silver at Hangzhou in 2023. The Manipuri athlete, who received the Arjuna Award in 2023, has also won gold at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships, 2019 South Asian Games and 2023 Moscow Wushu Stars. She was named the International Wushu Federation’s Female Athlete of the Year for 2023.
In soft tennis, Aryan Thakur suffered a defeat against Chinese Taipei’s Chen Po-yi in the men’s singles Group C. Thakur had earlier defeated Mongolia’s Bold-erdene Altangerel 4-0.
India also secured medals in other disciplines. The men’s badminton team defeated Japan 3-0 to reach the semifinals, while the women’s cricket team won India’s first gold by beating Sri Lanka by 147 runs. In boxing, Sakshi Chaudhary advanced to the women’s 51kg round of 16 with a 5-0 decision, while India’s men’s kabaddi team beat South Korea 63-31. In shooting, Elavenil Valarivan and Parth Mane finished fourth in the 10m air rifle mixed team final. Roshibina’s medal adds to India’s growing tally at the Games.
