A School Parliament Election was conducted at the Government High School in Koonabevu, Turuvanur Hobli, to help students understand the values of democracy and develop leadership skills through practical experience. The programme was organised by the Electoral Literacy Club with enthusiastic participation from students and teachers.
Headmaster S. Hanumanthappa said school parliament elections serve as a guide for nurturing leadership qualities among students from an early age. He explained that elections play a vital role in the success of democracy and reminded students that voting is both an important right and a responsibility. He added that such activities lay a strong foundation for responsible citizenship.
Teacher Krishnappa encouraged every student to motivate family members and neighbours to vote during elections. He also urged them to support the ongoing special voter registration drive by helping eligible people provide the required documents. He expressed hope that future elections would witness complete voter participation.
Senior teacher Prashant Kumari served as the polling officer, while teachers Radhamani and Veena assisted with the polling process. Sharif and Maruti Prasad worked as counting officers. Students cast their votes with excitement, discipline, and confidence throughout the election.
After the counting of votes, Dhanush Nayak was elected Chief Minister and Shreya was chosen as Home Minister. Both students took the oath of office, marking a memorable conclusion to the democratic learning programme at the school together.
