Modi, Takaichi inaugurate Maruti Suzuki Kharkhoda Plant

PMs Narendra Modi and Sanae Takaichi inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s massive Kharkhoda facility in Haryana, boosting India’s automotive capacity and strengthening India-Japan economic ties.

NEW DELHI

In a major step for India’s automotive industry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi have jointly inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s massive new manufacturing facility at Kharkhoda in Haryana.

The state-of-the-art facility marks Maruti Suzuki’s fourth major production plant in India. It also represents one of the largest financial investments the automaker has ever made in the country. Together, the company’s four Indian production sites have drawn a total investment of nearly Rs 35,000 crore, highlighting its strong, long-term faith in the Indian automotive market.

Once the sprawling Kharkhoda facility becomes fully functional, it will add a massive annual production capacity of 10 lakh passenger vehicles. This huge boost will make it one of the company’s biggest manufacturing hubs anywhere in the world and will firmly solidify India’s reputation as a top global car manufacturing base.

The grand inauguration also shines a spotlight on the deep economic and strategic relationship shared between India and Japan. As a joint venture between India’s Maruti and Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation, the brand remains an ultimate success story of Japanese investment in Indian business.

Earlier, PM Modi greeted PM Takaichi at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi ahead of their official summit. The two world leaders are scheduled to hold the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit talks. During this crucial meeting, they will review bilateral cooperation and discuss key global issues of mutual interest.
