HUBLI
Seeking capital punishment for those involved in the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha, members of various HIndutva organisations staged a protest.
The members of Vishwa Hndu Parishat and Bajrang Dal congregated in front of the statue of freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna armed with saffron flags and sought immediate action against the accused and all those who are behind the act.
They said that in a peace-loving State, fundamentalists are raising their heads. And, through the cold-blooded murder of Harsha, the Islamic fundamentalists have attacked Hindu religion, they added.
The protestors said that there are vested interests involved in the crime and the State Government should take the requisite steps to ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out and all the guilty are brought to book.
They said that attacks on Hindu youths have increased in the recent years and the protest over hijab is also an attack on the Hindu culture.
Accusing Popular Front of India and Social Democratic Party of India of being involved in the Shivamogga murder, they urged the State Government to ban both the organisations. Otherwise, Hindutva organisations will be forced to intensify the agitation, they said.
Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and other right wing organisations took out a protest march demanding in enquiry by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the brutal murder of right wing activist Harsha in Shivamogga on Sunday.
Holding aloft saffron flags, the agitators took out the march from Super Market to Jagat Circle and raised slogans praising Harsha. The right wing organisations submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Home Minister demanding that the State Government announce a compensation of Rs. 25 lakh to Harsha’s family.
Besides seeking an inquiry by NIA in the murder case, the protesters urged the Government to impose a ban the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its political arm, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).
Several hundred activists from different pro-Hindu organisations staged a protest and condemned the brutal murder ofBajrang Dal activist Harsha in Shivamogga and demanded capital punishment for the accused some of whom have already been arrested by the police.
The protestors took out a march on the main road and blocked Yadgir-Hyderabad inter-State highway near Subhas Chandra Chowk by forming a human chain to show solidarity with the victim and his bereaved family.
The protestors, who carried saffron flags in their hands, shouted slogans against those involved in the brutal killing of Harsha. They strongly demanded that the State Government establish a special court to conduct day-to-day trail in the case and pronounce capital punishment to send a message that such crime cannot be tolerated.
“The Home Department should initiate strict action to ensure protection of the people and prevent any crimes and illegal activities by anyone,” they said.
They also burnt old tyres near Subhas Chandra Chowk and later submitted a memorandum to the authorities. The police tightened security and diverted traffic movement on an alternative route. No untoward incidents were reported.
