Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation Chairman S. Ravikumar tendered his resignation on Friday following Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s strong remarks over the viral “60% commission” video. The Chief Minister had asked Ravikumar to step down immediately, leading to his formal resignation from the post.
In his resignation letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Ravikumar stated that he had been serving as chairman since March 15, 2024, and had implemented several government programs through the corporation during his tenure. He emphasized that no irregularities had taken place under his leadership.
Ravikumar maintained that ongoing investigations into financial mismanagement were related to irregularities from the previous government. He claimed to have identified certain improper transactions and indiscipline within the corporation and had initiated corrective measures. However, he alleged that a conspiracy was being orchestrated against him and that there had even been an attempt on his life. “I request you to conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action against those responsible,” he wrote, urging the Chief Minister to involve cyber police and forensic experts in probing a video allegedly created with technical equipment to target him.
Expressing gratitude to the government for the opportunity, Ravikumar said he was unable to continue as chairman since he resides in Shivamogga and found it difficult to manage the corporation effectively. He concluded by formally requesting acceptance of his resignation. The development comes amid heightened political debate, with the opposition seizing on the “commission” controversy to target the ruling government over corruption and accountability.
