The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Bengaluru carried out a series of safety awareness programs across various railway stations, schools, and level crossing (LC) gates to educate the public on the dangers associated with unsafe practices near railway tracks. The initiative focused on critical issues such as stone pelting, trespassing, and rash driving near crossings, which not only endanger lives but also disrupt railway operations.
As part of the campaign, RPF officers engaged with school students to spread awareness about the importance of railway safety from a young age. Demonstrations and interactive sessions were conducted to explain how seemingly small acts, such as throwing stones at trains, can cause severe injuries and even fatalities. Students were also briefed on the long-term legal consequences of such actions.
At level crossing gates, officials addressed motorists and pedestrians, urging them to avoid trespassing and to adhere strictly to traffic rules when gates are closed. Pamphlets and posters were distributed, outlining the penalties and punishments for violations under the Railway Act. The awareness drives also highlighted the dangers of reckless driving near tracks, emphasizing that negligence can lead to tragic accidents. The RPF stated that these Initiatives are part of their ongoing mission to ensure passenger safety and reduce incidents of crime and accidents on the railways. Citizens were urged to cooperate with authorities, respect railway property, and follow safety guidelines to make rail travel safer for all.
