The Udupi District Police has launched an innovative Locked House Beat System (LHBS) to monitor houses left locked when residents travel or work. Beat staff will regularly check such homes during day and night to ensure safety and security. Residents can inform the district control room at 0820-2526709 before leaving. Through WhatsApp, they must share departure and return dates, address details, and a selfie taken in front of the house. The facility is only for individual houses, not apartments. Police have warned citizens not to share details with unknown numbers for safety reasons.
