Talawara community demands suspension of Jevargi tehsildar

Talawara community in Jevargi protested demanding ST certificates and suspension of tahsildar over alleged administrative delay

Jevargi

A strong protest was raised in Jevargi taluk of Kalaburagi district over the alleged delay in issuing Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates to members of the Talawara community, with protesters demanding suspension of the concerned tahsildar.

The agitation highlighted that several eligible families have been waiting for official certification despite repeated applications and visits to the revenue office. Protesters alleged that the delay has affected access to government welfare schemes, education reservations, and employment benefits meant for the community.

They further stated that the issue has persisted for months, causing hardship and uncertainty among Talawara families who depend on ST certification for securing legal entitlements and government support.

Community leaders and activists urged immediate action from district authorities and called for accountability, insisting that administrative negligence should not deprive eligible citizens of their constitutional rights.

Protesters warned that if the issue continues unresolved, they would intensify their agitation in the coming days and escalate the matter to higher government officials.

Officials are yet to issue a detailed response regarding the allegations, while local revenue department sources indicated that verification of documents is underway. They said that delays often occur due to pending records and field-level inspections, but assured that eligible applicants will be issued certificates after due process.

Meanwhile, community representatives reiterated that the Talawara community has been historically marginalized and requires timely administrative support to ensure equal access to welfare benefits and constitutional safeguards.

Authorities have been urged to resolve the issue quickly to prevent further protests and restore public confidence in the system at the earliest.
