In a unique initiative to promote youth participation in democracy, Maibharat Kendra organised a model youth village meeting in Uttara Kannada district. The programme was held at the Government First Grade College seminar hall in Poojagere village of Shetgeri Gram Panchayat in Ankola block.
The event aimed to educate young people about the functioning of Panchayat Raj institutions and encourage them to take part in civic activities. Organisers said such programmes help build awareness and responsibility among the youth.
A total of 64 young participants took part in the mock village meeting, where they learned how local governance works and discussed community issues. The initiative received a positive response from attendees.
Organisers described it as an important step towards preparing informed and active future citizens who can contribute to village development. They also expressed hope of conducting similar programmes in other parts of the district to strengthen youth involvement in local governance.
