National Panchayat Raj Day was celebrated at the Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat office hall on Friday. Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Dileesh Shasi inaugurated the programme by planting saplings. The event recognised outstanding performances of panchayat institutions and officials in the district.
Awards were given to taluk panchayats with high tax collection and recovery performance, along with recognition for best Panchayat Development Officers and bill collectors. Officials who supported effective implementation of government schemes were also honoured. Women-led self-help group initiatives under NRLM received appreciation. Certificates were also distributed to officers with good service records. Senior officials and staff from all panchayat levels attended the programme.
