Vijayapura
Residents of Vijayapura are grappling with a sudden surge in light-attracted insects across various parts of the city, leading to widespread inconvenience and concern among the public. Citizens have now urged the Vijayapura Mahanagar Palika to take immediate action to control the situation. Over the past few days, large numbers of insects have been seen swarming around streetlights, house lights, and commercial establishments, especially during evening and night hours. The problem has become severe in several residential localities, where insects enter homes in huge numbers, making it difficult for families to carry out routine activities.
Shopkeepers and small business owners have also raised concerns, stating that the presence of insects is affecting customer footfall. Many people are avoiding staying outdoors after sunset due to the nuisance, impacting normal life in the city. Citizens believe that recent weather changes, including increased humidity and pre-monsoon conditions, could be one of the reasons behind the sudden rise in insect activity. However, they stress that proper sanitation measures and preventive steps by civic authorities are essential to control the situation.
Local residents have appealed to the Vijayapura Mahanagar Palika to initiate immediate measures such as fogging, spraying insect control solutions, and identifying possible breeding grounds like stagnant water areas. They have also requested the authorities to create awareness among the public on preventive measures. Despite the growing complaints, residents allege that no concrete action has been taken so far. They have urged the civic body to respond promptly and ensure relief to citizens, as the insect menace continues to disrupt daily life across Vijayapura.
