Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said four semiconductor plants will be ready in India by 2026, marking rapid progress in the sector. Speaking after a new facility inauguration in Gujarat, he added two more plants are expected in 2027, while the first fabrication unit will be ready by 2028. The government aims to strengthen design and manufacturing capabilities with support from global firms. Around 60,000 engineers have been trained for chip design work. Officials said the plan will boost India’s position globally, with a goal to become a top semiconductor hub in the coming years.
