Bezzecchi dominates in Austin to extend perfect MotoGP start

Austin

Marco Bezzecchi continued his sensational run in the MotoGP World Championship, clinching victory at the United States Grand Prix to maintain a perfect start to the 2026 season.

Riding for Aprilia Racing, Bezzecchi led all 20 laps at the Circuit of the Americas, finishing 2.036 seconds ahead of teammate Jorge Martin. Pedro Acosta completed the podium after recovering from a penalty-hit sprint race a day earlier.

The victory marked Bezzecchi’s third consecutive win this season and his fifth in a row overall, dating back to the previous year. It also propelled him back to the top of the championship standings with 81 points, four ahead of Martin.

Bezzecchi’s dominant performance came just a day after disappointment in the sprint race, where he crashed out for the second time this season. Bouncing back emphatically, the Italian controlled the race from start to finish, showcasing both pace and composure.

“This is amazing. I wasn’t expecting a day like this after yesterday,” Bezzecchi said. “It was important to respond after the mistake, and my team gave me the motivation to come back stronger.”

With this win, Bezzecchi joined an elite group of Italian riders, becoming only the third after Valentino Rossi and Giacomo Agostini to secure five consecutive MotoGP victories. He is also the first rider since Marc Marquez in 2014 to win the opening three races of a season.

Behind the leading trio, polesitter Fabio Di Giannantonio finished fourth, while defending Austin champion Francesco Bagnaia endured a difficult outing, crossing the line in 10th place.

Bezzecchi’s commanding form has established him as the rider to beat this season, with his consistency and confidence setting the tone early in the championship battle.
