Olympic medallists Mirabai Chanu, Ravi Dahiya, and Yogeshwar Dutt joined over 10,000 volunteers for the ‘Humara Samvidhan Humara Swabhiman Padyatra’ in New Delhi on Monday, marking the eve of India’s 75th Constitution Day. The 6-km foot march, led by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, aimed to promote the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution, including justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
The march began at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, moved through Kartavya Path, and concluded at India Gate. Along the route, several Union Ministers, including Kiren Rijiju, Piyush Goyal, and Dharmendra Pradhan, participated, expressing their support for the cause.
Mandaviya expressed his pride in the youth’s involvement, particularly the MY Bharat volunteers, who have not only read the Constitution’s preamble but also pledged their commitment to its principles. He highlighted that the youth of India are key to shaping a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
The event also included an ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, where Mandaviya and other ministers planted trees to promote environmental consciousness. Volunteers supported the event’s alignment with the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Mission by engaging in cleanliness drives along the route.
The march saw participation from youth across 125 colleges in the NCR region, along with organisations such as NYKS, NSS, NCC, and Bharat Scouts and Guides, underscoring a collective effort to honor and uphold India’s democratic values.
