Former New Zealand cricketer Dion Nash has been appointed as a director of the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Board. The announcement was made on Wednesday, marking a new chapter for the 53-year-old, who played 32 Tests and 81 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for the Kiwis.
Nash, who also served as a national selector after retiring from cricket, takes over the role from Martin Snedden. Snedden stepped down after decades of service, having contributed as a player, chief executive, board member, chairperson, and even as a director of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Diana Puketapu-Lyndon, NZC Board Chair, praised Snedden’s immense contributions. “Martin has been part of NZC since his playing days in the 1980s. Over 24 years, he has helped transform the organization into a modern and forward-thinking entity,” she said.
Puketapu-Lyndon also expressed excitement about Nash’s appointment, citing his unique blend of cricket and business expertise. “Dion’s deep knowledge of the game and his interest in its business aspects will be valuable. He understands cricket’s culture at all levels, from grassroots to high performance,” she added.
Nash’s experience in both the sports and corporate worlds is expected to guide NZC through future challenges. His appointment reflects the board’s commitment to maintaining a strong connection with cricket’s core values while continuing its professional evolution.
This leadership transition signals a promising future for New Zealand Cricket as Nash begins his new role.
