The recent state government decision to exempt buildings built on 30×40 square feet plots from Occupancy Certificate (OC) came as a big relief for lakhs of people, who were facing problems due to non-availability of such certificates. But due to one reason, they continue to be in trouble as such buildings are not being provided with electricity connections yet.

Although more than four lakh houses were built, they were in the dark without electricity connection. Due to the demands of the people and electricity contractors, the government decided that OC is not mandatory for buildings on 30×40 plots. In addition, ‘G’ plus two floors and stilt plus three floors have been allowed. However, thousands of houses are not able to be provided with electricity connection. The rooms and rooms or toilets have been built on the stilts, that is, the ground, without leaving a complete parking space, and on the third floor, electricity connection is being hampered.
Although exemptions were given for buildings with an area of 30×40, residents are now stuck in a bind. Electrical contractors say this is a problem in thousands of buildings. The government has given permission for only three floors in total. Even if a small bathroom or store room is built beyond three floors, permission is not given. Contractors are insisting that such buildings be considered.
Overall, the government has exempted OC for 30×40 buildings. In addition, the rule of G plus two or stilt plus three floors should be relaxed a little for already constructed buildings. People and contractors are complaining that this will cause a lot of problems.
